BigJapan’s, ShopSavvy, which incidentally was one of 10 winners in the original Google Challenge contest in 2008, arrived this week iPhone. With ShopSavvy’s “laser”, really taking a photo with the iphone camera, you scan a product’s barcode and the app will do a price check. Results are rendered for both online and local retail locations. The app also accumulates reviews for the products, allows you to save the product to customized wish lists, generates price alerts that you can target prices for, gives a history of your scans and saves and allows you to share on popular social networks such as twitter and facebook. On first attempt, the app scanned several items quickly and is easy to navigate. Best of all, it is FREE!
